Application Developer

Description

The Software Engineering team at ChipRewards is responsible for translating needs and requirements into real-world, responsive solutions for health plans, employers and providers.  As a ChipRewards Software Developer, you will work with other developers who understand the architecture inside and out, client managers and designers who know what customers want, and experienced project managers to help you get the job done. You will be involved in feature planning sessions, drive new innovative ideas, and make calls on what is feasible to implement or what is prohibitively expensive. The Front-End Developer should be technically-minded with the aptitude to see and seize opportunities for quick wins in order to build innovative, responsive and compliant solutions to hard problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in design specification reviews with product and solution management and provide feedback and insight into the technical feasibility of requirements and user stories
  • Provide production development, implementation and advanced technical support for the solution
  • Write and implement unit tests
  • Write clear, detailed and concise code
  • Collaborate with all departments on ideas for quality improvements
  • Provide industry expertise and creative thought leadership
  • Evangelize quality concepts and benefits both internally and externally
  • Adhere to and highlight engineering best practices such as:
    • Rapid prototyping
    • Analytics
    • Intuitive UI design
    • Pair-programming and code reviews
  • Use a wide range of languages including, JavaScript (JQuery, AJAX), CSS3, HTML5 and various other web technologies
  • Document and promote tools designed

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 2+ years software development experience in a fast-paced software environment
  • Experience with web-side frameworks such as Ember.js, AngularJS or Backbone.js, particularly with regard to Single Page Application development

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence or other defect tracking solutions is preferred
  • Experience styling for responsive applications, ideally using Bootstrap
  • Understand client/server, web-based responsive design applications, relational database management systems, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST, and SQL
  • Experience developing UIs across multiple browsers and versions using VMs
  • Ability to configure and maintain Linux-based test environments
  • Experience in Agile development methodology
  • Ability to effectively use troubleshooting and technical skills
  • Perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
